UPTOWN Thursday 10/26/17 FREE Wine Tasting
with Special guests Count Sebastiano Capponi of Villa Calciniaia
and Habitat for Humanity
…or in the case of Count Sebastiano Capponi, the castle is his home. Come meet Count Capponi (Professor and Historian) of Villa Calcinaia. Count Capponi will be at our Uptown location pouring wines from his estate Villa Calcinaia in Tuscany Italy. The Villa has been the home of the Capponi family, one of the most influential families in Florence, since the mid-14th Century. It was the second half of the 18th century when, Count Ferdinando Carlo Capponi began to produce wine. Wines from those vineyards have been internationally recognized, praised and enjoyed since the beginning of the 20th century. The Chianti Classico of Villa Calcinaia in particular is the truest expression of the family’s pride and sense of history.
While not everyone is fortunate enough to live in a castle, our local charity partner for this tasting Habitat for Humanity makes those dreams of owning your own home come true for many people. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville’s mission is to, “bring people together to build and rebuild homes and communities, while catalyzing new pathways to safe, decent, affordable housing.” We are happy to announce that 15% of sales from bottles bought from tasting will go to Habitat for Humanity. If you can’t make it to Thursday’s tasting you can come to our Uptown store anytime the following week and just mention Habitat for Humanity and 10% of the sales from the wine you purchase will be donated to this wonderful organization.
