Alain Jaume Tavel Rosé Le Cretace 2015
We’re Number One!
(60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre ; Rhone, Tavel, France)
“Tavel: Premiere Rose Tout de le Monde” declares the red neon sign on the roof of the Tavel coop in three foot tall letters. It’s arguably true in this appellation where the grapes are grown expressly for rose. These are bold roses; dark in color with a great depth of flavor. Grenache and Syrah ripen well there resulting in high alcohols of 13.5 to 14.5%. If you want to boldly go, try it with a steak. It will stand up to it. This vintage close out offers aromas of wild strawberries, watermelon with floral and spice notes. The Jaume family offers an excellent range of wines. Several are Wineshop staples.
Note: Memory is a funny thing. I wrote this review before I searched for the pic of the coop sign. i’m sure the coop members would agree with my upgrade. Cheers, Robert
