Crucero “Collection” Carmenere 2015
Crucero, Spanish for “crossroads,” is named after the winery’s main vineyard which sits at a prominent intersection in the heart of the Colchagua Valley. Carmenere, Chile’s distinctive grape, is often called the lost grape of Bordeaux. In the late 1800s it disappeared from Bordeaux, but then was found in Chile in the 1980s where it had been mistaken for Merlot. Regardless, this charmer is smooth and supple, with just enough depth to keep it interesting. It is full of blackberry and blueberry aromas and flavors with violet notes.
