Bold Rock Ciders
This Wednesday ♦ Downtown
This week we taste some of the ciders from Bold Rock Cidery.
If you’re John Washburn, it seems like you just pick up things. For instance, while others were picking up more nefarious items and conditions in 1985, Washburn became captivated with a gorgeous 50 acre plot of land in Nelson Co. So he bought it. You know, like you do. He then took the next 25 years to figure out what to do with it. Fortunately for him, the Craft Beer Revolution eventually came to the Route 151 corridor. With three breweries and a bunch of wineries already nearby, Washburn turned his thoughts to cider making. At that point, what else was left to do other than reach out to New Zealand native, international cider consultant, and veteran of cideries like Woodchuck and Strongbow, Brian Shanks? You know, like you do. Two years later, in 2012, the first bottles of Bold Rock Cider took Charlottesville (and soon beyond) by storm. Tonight, we boldly rock where John Washburn has rocked for us.
